CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 13th ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team will head into the 2006 ACC Women’s Tennis Tournament as the No. 3 seed after finishing the regular season in a three-way tie for first with Georgia Tech and Duke for a share of the ACC regular season title. Competition begins Thursday, April 20 and runs thru Sunday, April 23 at the Cary Tennis Complex in Cary, N.C.
The Hurricanes closed the regular season with an overall record of 17-5 and a 9-2 mark in league play.
Miami’s 9-2 record in the ACC places them in a three-way tie with Duke and Georgia Tech for the top spot among the conference standings. As determined by the ACC’s official tie breaker policy, Miami was awarded the No. 3 by a blind draw among the top three teams.
With a first round bye, the Hurricanes will take on the winner of Thursday’s match between No. 6 Virginia and No. 11 Virginia Tech Friday at 3:00 p.m.
