Victories, Records Fall at Texas Relays

Austin, Texas (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team completed a successful final day at the Texas Relays. All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa) finished second in the 400 hurdles, in a NCAA East Regional qualifying time of 55.27. The mark is a new all-time ACC record and school record.
Darden was also part of the victorious 4×400 relay team along with Krista Simkins (Wissahickon, Pa.), Ginou Etienne (Miami, Fla.) and Charlette Greggs (Miami, Fla.), that with their time of 3.28.07, broke the all-time ACC mark and school record record. The time also is an NCAA East Regional Qualifying mark.
Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ont.) was also victorious in the triple jump with a mark of 14.17m (44-06.00). Teammate Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas). finished second in the triple jump, jumpiong 13.90m (45-07.25). Both marks were over the allowable wind limit, else both marks would have bettered the school record.
Darden, Greggs, Simkins and India Ransom (Largo, Md.) finished fifth in the finals of the 4×100 meter relay running in an NCAA East Regional time of 44.46.
The Hurricanes compete again on Saturday April 15, at the Miami Elite Invitational, held at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
