D'Agord Named ACC Men's Tennis Performer of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami junior Luigi D’Agord earned four wins over top 30 opponents last week, leading Miami to an upset win over North Carolina to earn Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week honors.

In a 4-3 Miami loss to No. 4 Duke on Friday, seventh-ranked D’Agord notched a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over No. 5 Ludovic Walter at No. 1 singles.

D’Agord also teamed with Daniel Vallverdu to down the Blue Devils’ Joey Atas and Jonathan Stokke, the No. 29 doubles tandem in the nation, 8-5, at No. 1.

In the Hurricanes’ 4-1 win over No. 8 North Carolina on Sunday, D’Agord earned a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory over No. 10 Raian Luchici at No. 1 singles.

The Freeport, Bahamas, native again teamed with Vallverdu – forming the 46th-ranked doubles team in the nation – to knock off another top-flight doubles duo, this time taking down No. 6 Brad Pomeroy and Luchici at No. 1, 8-3.

Miami (13-3, 5-2 ACC) returns to action on Friday, April 7, at Virginia. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
