(hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s track and field team completed the the decathlon at the Hurricane Invitational Friday afternoon at Cobb Stadium. Roland DaSilva (Margate, FL) finished the event scoring 6678 which placed him fourth.

 

DaSilva won the 110 hurdles in 15.12.  He also pole vaulted 4.15m a personal best for him in the event.  DaSilva finished third in that event. 

 

Andrew Parsons (Glenn Falls, NY), who started the day out in 10th place, competed in the 110 hurdles, but then withdrew due to injury.

 

Joe Detmer of Wisconsin won the decathlon scoring 7036 points. Detmer won the 1500 meter run and the pole vault on his way to victory.

 

The Hurricanes compete again tomorrow with a full slate of events.  Field events are scheduled to start at 9 am and will run all day.  Track events will run start at 2 pm and be completed in the early evening.  Results will be posted after the completion of the final event.
