Men's Track and Field Turns in Strong Performances on Second Day of ACC Indoor Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Blacksburg, Va. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s track and field team completed the second day of events at the ACC Indoor Championships.  Roland DaSilva earned All-ACC in the Heptathlon by finishing third place with 5176 points.  <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

Elan Daviglus broke a 15 year old school record in the high jump, with a jump of 2.08m (6-09.75).  He finished fifth in the event.  The old mark of 2.07m was set on February 22, 1992 by Horace Copeland.

 

In other results from preliminary rounds, Lance Leggett qualified second in the 60HH.  His time of 7.88 seconds is a NCAA provisional mark.  Tim Harris qualified first in the 800 meters.  The finals for both those events will be held on Saturday afternoon.

 

The team stands in ninth place after six events with 10 points, just three points behind Virginia.  Clemson and FloridaState are tied for first with 50 points.

 

The ACC Indoor Championships will conclude tomorrow afternoon after a day of finals in all events.  The day will begin with the mile and end with the 4×400 relay.  Full results will be posted after the conclusion of the meet.  Live stats can be found here.
