Women's Track and Field Finishes First Day in Second Place at ACC Indoor Championships

(hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team finished the first day of competition at the ACC Indoor Championships. Amy Seward finished in second place in the pentathlon with a total of 3936 points, her best result of the season and her second NCAA provisional mark in that event.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Seward won the long jump with a jump of 6.26m (20-06.50). That mark is an NCAA provisional standard and is currently the second longest in the ACC, behind teammate Tabia Charles. Seward also took first place in the 60 meter hurdles.
Debbie Estime also competed in the pentathlon finishing 13th on the day. She placed third in the high jump competition.
Led by Seward’s second place finish, the Hurricanes are currently in second place behind host Virginia Tech. Gunild Kreb won the pentathlon to lead the Hokies.
Team scores are listed below. Competition continues tomorrow afternoon at 1:50 pm with the trials of the mile run. Updates will be posted tomorrow evening with the conclusion of the distance medley relay.
