Hurricanes in Seventh Place After First Round at Papa John's Collegiate

Miami Lakes, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s golf team fired a first-round score of 306 (+18) to wrap up the first round of play in seventh place at the Papa John’s Collegiate Golf Championship at Don Shula’s Golf Club.

Leading the Hurricanes was sophomore Hagen Weintraub who shot a one-over par first round score of 73 to finish tied for third, one shot back of the leaders. Defending champion junior Josie Shinn shot a first round 75 (+3) to remain in the hunt for the individual title.

College of Charleston shot 299 (+11) for the first round team lead, while Christina Jones of South Florida and Amanda Mathis of Mississippi State are on top of the leaderboard after shooting an even-par 72.

Second round play at the Papa John’s Collegiate will continue Monday morning beginning at 8 a.m.
