UM Men, Women Square-off with UCF in Saturday Doubleheader

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – In a unique doubleheader, the University of Miami men’s and women’s tennis teams will both take on in-state rival UCF Saturday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center with both matches beginning at 1 p.m.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Head coach Mario Rincon and the men’s team – ranked 24th in the latest Fila/ITA collegiate rankings – is 4-1 on the year coming off a pair of wins over ranked opponents, including No. 22 Oklahoma State, last weekend in Houston, Texas.
Miami’s lineup boasts two nationally ranked players in 25th-ranked junior Luigi D’Agord and 87th-ranked junior Josh Cohen.
Senior Tim Krebs has been UM’s most impressive singles player this spring, posting a perfect 5-0 record in dual play from the No. 4 position.
The women’s squad is currently ranked 13th in the latest Fila/ITA Collegiate rankings with a 3-3 overall record. The Hurricanes return to action after suffering a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of No. 2 ranked Florida last weekend.
Miami is led by sophomore Audra Cohen who was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week after taking down the nation’s No. 1 ranked player, UF’s Diana Srebrovic, in straight sets. She is now 9-0 on the season.
Cohen and senior Melissa Applebaum paired up at the No. 1 doubles position for the first time last weekend. They defeated FIU and UF’s top tandems ranked No. 24 and No. 25, respectively.
