Charles Named ACC Performer of the Week

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Tabia Charles has been selected as the ACC Indoor Track Co-Performer of the Week.  She shares the honor with Florida State pole vaulter Lacy Janson.

Charles claimed victory in the women’s championship triple jump at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. over the weekend.  The jump of 13.49m (44-03.25″) is the top mark in the nation and automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The victory is Charles’ third of the season, along with wins at the Florida Intercollegiate Open and the Penn State National Invite.  Charles become the first Hurricane to qualify automatically for the NCAA Indoor Championships in an individual event.

The University of Miami’s women’s track team returns to action February 23-25 at the ACC Championships in Blacksburg, Va.
