Hurricanes Take Top Two Spots In Long Jump

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team competed at the Gator Invitational Sunday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla. Brenda Faluade and Tabia Charles took the top two spots in the long jump, with marks of 6.18m (20-03.50) and 6.03m (19-09.50) respectively.
Faluade’s mark is an NCAA provisional standard and she becomes the fifth individual Hurricane to post a provisional this indoor season. The victory is the Hurricanes fifth individual victory and seventh on the season.
Pavi’Elle James finished third in the 55 meter hurdles, in 7.85, her second time posting a NCAA provisional mark in that event this season.
The Hurricanes compete next week against elite competition at the prestigious Tyson Invitational February 10-11, 2006 in Fayetteville, Ark.
