Hurricanes Claim Victories at Penn State National Invite

University Park, Pa. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team finished competition at the Penn State National Invite. Junior Tabia Charles won the triple jump for the second straight meet, with a jump of 13.02m (42-08.75). The 4×400 meter relay team of Ginou Etienne, Charlette Greggs, Krista Simkins, and Ena Luefroy took first place in a NCAA provisional time of 3:36.46.
Greggs also took third place in the 200 meter dash, in 23.68, her best time of the year, improving upon her NCAA provisional mark.
Etienne became the newest NCAA provisional qualifier for the Hurricanes, finishing the 400 meter dash in 53.99, placing fourth in that event.
Leufroy finished third in 800 meter run, running in 2:11.30, and senior Melanie Schultz finished third in the mile, with a time of 4:54.51.
Sophomore Khadija Talley threw 14.80m (48-06.75) in the shot put, on her first throw and that was enough for third place.
The Hurricanes return to action February 5, at the Gator Inivitational in Gainesville, Fla.
