Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Head women’s track and field coach Amy Deem announces the signing of Deandra Doyley (Ft. Lauderdale High School), Ashley Dukes (Nova High School) and Mikaela Green (St. Thomas Aquinas) to national letters of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall.

The three Broward County standouts have combined to win six individual FHSAA State Championships including the Class 3A state titles in the 100-meters, 200-meters, 400-meters and 300-meter hurdles last season.

“One of our priorities at Miami is to make sure we keep South Florida’s most talented track and field athletes at home, and we were able to do that with the signing of Deandra, Ashley and Mikaela,” said Deem. “To sign three women of that caliber from Broward County is great for our program.”

Doyley was the state’s top 300-meter hurdler in 2005 capturing the county, district, region and FHSAA Class 3A state titles in the event. Last season she also earned Nike Indoor All-America honors in the long jump and has earned Nike Outdoor All-America honors in the 400-hurldes each of the last two seasons.

She won the Class 3A state title in the long jump in 2004 and has posted career bests of 42.50 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, 14.34 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 5.78 meters (18-11.75) in the long jump.

Doyley is a three-time AAU All-American in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. In 2005 she won the AAU national club championship for Young Women in the 400-meter hurdles setting an AAU record with a time of 1:01.55. In 2004 she set AAU national club championship records in the 100-meter hurdles (14.58) and 400-meter hurdles (1:01.68) in the intermediate division.

Dukes dominated the sprints last season winning both the 100-meters (12.18) and 200-meters (24.22) at the FHSAA Class 3A state championships. In addition she was the Broward County and Regional champion in the 100-meters, as well as the Regional champion at 200-meters.

Last season Dukes earned All-American honors in the 200-meters placing sixth at the Nike Outdoor Nationals with a personal best time of 23.92 seconds, and has also recorded personal bests of 11.87 seconds in the 100-meters and 56.2 seconds in the 400-meters.

Green has been the state’s top 400-meter runner over the last two seasons winning the FHSAA Class 3A state champion in both 2004 and 2005. Last season earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish at the Nike Outdoor Nationals running a personal best time of 54.37 seconds.
