Miami Baseball Closes Fall Practice With Annual Scout Day

Nov. 18, 2005

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball will close out its fall schedule with a 10-inning intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mark Light Field. In addition to serving as the team’s autumn baseball finale, the practice will also give UM’s 2006 draft-eligible student-athletes a chance to showcase their talents in front of Major League Baseball scouts.

All 13 pitchers on the UM roster are scheduled to throw, and all Hurricane hitters will have several chances at the plate and play multiple positions in the field.

It is the last chance before the first practice of the 2006 season on January 6 to see Miami’s largest class of newcomers in nearly 10 years and pre-season award candidates, left fielder Jon Jay, right-handed reliever Chris Perez and catcher Eddy Rodriguez.

While construction is going on at Mark Light Field, fans and media are being asked to enter via the right or left field foul lines or the entrance on Ponce De Leon Boulevard.
