Schultz Makes UM History

Gainesville, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Senior Melanie Schultz (Davison, Mich.) finished fourth at the NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday to become the first Hurricane in school-history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Championships.
Schultz, who earns All-South Region honors for the second consecutive season, completed the 6K course in a time of 20:32.41 and will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the NCAA Championships on November 21.
Over the last two seasons Schultz has established herself as the greatest distance runner in school-history. She as been the Hurricanes top finisher in 17 consecutive cross country races and at this year’s ACC Cross Country Championships she finished 15th with a time of 19:56.1, becoming the first Hurricane woman to run a sub-20 minute time over six kilometers.
As a team the Hurricanes recorded 502 points to finish 20th.
