Miami Continues to Win at Hurricane Fall Invitational

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team claimed two-of-three doubles matches against Iowa and three-of-five singles matches against Vanderbilt on the second day of competition at the Hurricane Fall Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Miami walked away with two doubles victories to start the day. UM’s doubles tandem of Melissa Applebaum and Audrey Banada defeated Iowa’s Meg Racette/Hillary Mintz duo, 8-6. Monika Dancevic and Ana Rupic likewise picked up a win, downing Iowa’s Milica Veselinovic and Merel Beelen, 8-4.

 

In singles action, Patricia Starzyk claimed a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set victory over Vanderbilt’s Caroline Ferrell before Caren Seenauth topped Courtney Ulery, 6-3, 7-5.

 

Emily Mowery outlasted Vanderbilt’s Liberty Sveke, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 to end the day.
