Hurricanes Travel to Maryland for Double-Dual Meet

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – The University of Miami swimming and diving squad will travel to College Park, Md. for a double-dual meet against Atlantic Coast Conference foes, Maryland and Duke, this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Maryland’s CampusRecreationCenter.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
The Hurricanes (0-1) return to action after having their meet against cross-town rival FIU postponed on account of Hurricane Wilma.
Maryland (1-2, 1-2 ACC) will provide formidable competition as the Terrapins claimed 2004-05 ACC Championship while Duke (3-1, 0-1 ACC) is off to a good start having won three-of-four meets this season.
The latest ACC swimming and diving release saw four Miami swimmers and one diver ranked in the ACC Top 10.
Sophomore diver Jenna Dreyer, who won both the one and three meter diving events against FAU, is ranked first in the one-meter with a score of 309.43.
Newcomer Christine Zwiegers is ranked sixth in the 100-butterfly with a time of 57.75 while junior Ashley Knapp’s time of 58.84 ranks her seventh in the 100-backstroke.
Juniors Tara Erwin and Kristen Lunak are also ranked in the Top 10. Erwin’s time of 10:21.25 is 10th in the 1000-freestyle while Lunak is eighth in the 400-IM with a time of 4:36.01.
