Hurricanes Place 14th At Chile Pepper Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team finished 14th out of 30 teams at the 2005 Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. For the first time in school-history the Hurricanes had three runners finish in under 32 minutes over 10 kilometers.
Miami was led by senior Alex Brutvan (Boca Raton, Fla.) who finished 65th in a career-best time of 31:41.9. Also posting career-bests were junior Tom Berry (Stamford, Conn.), who placed 135th with a time of 31:47.8, and freshman Ryan Woodlee (Silver Spring, Md.), who finished 208th in a time of 31:52.3.
Miami nearly had a fourth runner under 32 minutes as junior Zach Castiglione (Brighton, Mich.) placed 289th in a time of 32:01.9.
Miami, which is ranked 13th in the South Region by the United State Cross Country Coaches Association, recorded 385 points to place 14th. Arkansas, the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, won the event with 57 points.
The Chile Pepper Invitational is the final tune-up for the Hurricanes before the ACC Cross Country Championships, October 31, in Tallahassee, Fla.
