Women's Tennis Concludes Action at Gator Fall Classic

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team claimed four out of six matches against FIU during the final day of competition at the Gator Fall Classic held at the University of Florida’s Ring Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Junior Audrey Banada posted the Hurricanes’ top win of the day–a 6-2, 6-0 straight set victory over No. 42 Paula Zabala.
No. 106 ranked Patricia Starzyk, who won two-of-three matches during the weekend, gave up only one set en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over FIU’s Egle Petrauskaite.
Junior Ana Rupic and freshman Monika Dancevic also claimed victories in the final day of action–both in three sets. Rupic downed Courtney Jonson, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 while Dancevic defeated Bruna Discordia 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.
The Hurricanes return to action at the ITA South Regional Championships that begin on Oct. 13th and run through Oct. 16th.
