Twentieth-ranked junior Josh Cohen made his way to the quarterfinals of the flight “B” bracket with a pair of wins, but fell at the hands of Devvarman, 6-2, 6-2.

While D’Agord, Cohen, Krebs and Hechtman competed in Virginia, junior P.J. Passalacqua, senior John Hoyes and sophomore Vivek Subramanian took part in the 2005 USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Friday and Saturday

Passalacqua and Hoyes both advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals in the “Green” flight, one of two flights, following first-round wins on Friday while Subramanian was forced to withdrawal from the tournament following a hamstring injury.

Passalacqua fell in the quarters to Dirk Britzen of South Florida, 6-0, 6-0. Hoyes downed Pasqual Duttlinger of Troy in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3, in Saturday’s quarters, but fell to Britzen, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinal match.

In doubles, Hoyes and Passalacqua fell to UCF’s Norman Alcantara and Brock Sakey, 8-3, in the first round.
