Shinn Makes Move At Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate

Tuscaloosa, Ala. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Josie Shinn (Pinehurst, N.C.) shot an even-par 72 to move up 30 spots into a tie for 15th heading into the final round of the Alabama Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate Golf Championship in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Shinn shot an opening round 80 and was tied for 45th heading into Monday morning’s round. Also making a significant move on Monday was sophomore Jessica Steward (Mystic, Conn.) who moved up 17 positions into a tie for 22nd after a second round 75. Steward shot 79 on Sunday.
Augusta State’s Garrett Phillips (71-68–139) fired a second round 68 to take a commanding five-stroke lead into the final round. Michelle Jarman (UNC Wilmington) is in second (77-67–144).
As a team the Hurricanes are in a tie for eighth-place (316-307–623). Augusta State leads the team competition (297-293–590) while host Alabama is second (298-304–602).
Final round action is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
