University of Miami Students & Alumni Come Together To Host Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser on Sept. 23

Coral Gables, Fla. (www. hurricanesports.com) – – Students and Alumni of the University of Miami are throwing a Friday night party to raise donations that will benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The event, which will be held Friday, September 23rd from 7-10 PM at GameWorks at the Shops at Sunset Place is an opportunity for students to make a difference while still having a good time. With their $10 donation and presentation of their Canes ID or Alumni Card, students and alumni will receive free video game play at GameWorks for 2-hours. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross to assist in the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort.
“We are expecting a very large turnout,” stated Kim Neubecker, Regional Director of Marketing for GameWorks. “The students want a way to show their support. We are pleased to participate and offer them a way to show that commitment. We will donate as many free game cards as we can to make this a successful fundraising event for the University and the Hurricane Relief Fund.”
Game cards are free with a $10 donation and presentation of a Canes ID or Alumni Association card only. Students and Alumni may bring up to 3 guests (non-student or Alumni) that may donate as well for the free card. The free game cards will be available from 7-10 PM and are valid for two hours. The event will feature a live DJ and specials on food and drinks.Individual donations will also be accepted at GameWorks on September 23rd for the American Red Cross for the general public. Donations must be in the form of a personal check or cash. Personal items, food and clothing will not be accepted.
