Shinn, Steward Lead Hurricanes

Hanahan, S.C. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami junior Josie Shinn (Pinehurst, N.C.) and sophomore Jessica Steward (Mystic, Conn.) each fired two round totals of 152 and are tied for 35th at the 2005 Cougar Classic in Hanahan, S.C.
As a team the Hurricanes recorded rounds of 312 and 306, and are in 15th-place heading into Monday’s final round. The tournament, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, was moved up one day because of the threat of Hurricane Ophelia.
Shinn, a 2004-05 All-ACC selection, recorded back-to-back rounds of 76 on Sunday. Steward, a transfer from Boston College, struggles in the morning round posting a nine-over-par 81, but came back strong in the afternoon with a one-under-par 71.
Sophomore Hagen Weintraub (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) is tied for 63rd (76-80–156) while junior Tiffany Prats (Williston, Fla.) is tied for 75th (79-79–158). Freshman Anabelle Paulino (Dominican Republic) is tied for 86th (82-86–168).
Tennessee (288-293–581) leads the team competition, while Nicole Smith (Tennessee) posted two rounds of 71 and has a one stroke lead heading into the final round.
The final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
