Alabama Tennis Standout D'Agord to Transfer to UM

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head men’s tennis coach Mario Rincon has announced that former University of Alabama standout Luigi D’Agord has transferred and will join the University of Miami men’s tennis team beginning this fall.
D’Agord, a 2005 Second Team All-SEC selection who hails from Freeport, Bahamas, posted an overall record of 27-18 last season and finished the season ranked 54th nationally as a redshirt sophomore. His 27 wins ranks eighth all-time in UA single-season history.
During the spring, he recorded wins over two nationally ranked opponents and was twice named SEC Athlete of the Week. D’Agord also became the first player in SEC history to be named SEC Athlete of the Week in his first week of eligibility for the award.
Over the 2004 fall season, D’Agord set a Crimson Tide fall record for wins with an overall mark of 17-4, including eight in a row at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships and the Southern California Intercollegiates.
D’Agord will join a Hurricane team that loses just one player to graduation from a year ago in Luis Manrique and returns five-of-six in the regular starting line up including 2005 All-ACC selection and rising junior Josh Cohen.
