Women's 4x100-Meter Relay Places Fifth At Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami 4×100-meter relay of junior India Ransom (Largo, Md.), senior Wiande Moore (Spring, Texas), junior Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) and junior Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) placed fifth with a time of 44.21 seconds at the 111th Penn Relay Carnival in Philadelphia, Pa.

Later in the day Ransom qualified for Saturday’s final of the 100-meters finishing second in her heat in a time of 11.82 seconds. Ransom, ranked 25th in the nation, posted the eight best time of the qualifying round and will face a talented field including No. 1 ranked Sheri-Ann Brooks (FIU), seventh-ranked Andriane Lapsley (Georgia Tech), eighth-ranked Marshevet Hooker (Texas), No. 35 Nadine Palmer (Florida), No. 42 Antonette Carter (California) and 46th-ranked Shandra Freeman (Louisiana Tech).

In other action, sophomore Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.) placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.14 meters (39-10.00).

The Penn Relays conclude Saturday. Competing for the Hurricanes will be Ransom in the 100-meter final at 3:35 p.m., as well as Miami’s 4×400-meter relay of Moore, sophomore Ginou Etienne (Miami Central), Darden and Greggs in the championship final beginning at 5:30 p.m.
