George F. Will To Throw Out First Pitch Of Miami-Florida State Series

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Pulitzer Prize winner and avid baseball enthusiast George F. Will is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of this Friday’s baseball game between the University of Miami and Florida State at Mark Light Field. Will makes his pitch at approximately 6:40 p.m., before Miami’s Cesar Carrillo starts the game at 7:07 p.m.
Will won the Pulitzer Prize in 1977 for commentary in his newspaper columns and has been a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post since 1974, and a contributing editor at Newsweek since 1976. His columns appear twice a week in more than 500 publications in the U.S. and Europe and he has published seven collections of his work throughout the years. He is also a founding panel member of ABC television’s “This Week”, beginning in 1981.
The impressive body of work Will has composed in the political arena is complemented by two best-selling books relating to baseball: Men At Work: The Craft of Baseball (1990) and Bunts: Curt Flood, Camden Yards, Pete Rose and Other Reflections on Baseball (1998). Will was also a member of Major League Baseball’s Blue Ribbon Panel, examining baseball economics in July of 2000.
