UM's Barrett Wins Again

Austin, Texas (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami senior Kim Barrett (Miami Gulliver Prep) continued her dominance in the shot put winning for the seventh time this season at the 78th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
Barrett recorded a school-record throw of 17.48 meters (57-04.25) which is also the best mark in the nation this year. Barrett won five of six events during the indoor season including the NCAA Indoor National Championship in March. She has won both events this outdoor season.
Junior All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 56.78 seconds.
Other Hurricanes recording NCAA regional qualifying marks on Saturday included sophomore All-Americans Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) and Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) in the triple jump. Charles placed third with a leap of 13.18 meters (43-03.00) while Faluade placed fourth with a mark of 13.03 meters (42-09.00).
Miami’s All-American relays were also impressive. The 4×100-meter relay placed third with a time of 44.19 seconds, while the 4×400-meter relay also took third with a time of 3:32.25. Both marks are NCAA regional qualifiers.
The Hurricanes return to action on Saturday, April 16 when they host the Miami Gatorade Invitational at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables. Field events start at noon with track events beginning at 5 p.m.
