Hurricanes Roll Past Loyola Marymount with 7-0 Victory

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team won all six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches to down Loyola Marymount, 7-0, Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
With the win, the Hurricanes (8-6) snap a four-match skid and improve to 2-0 all-time against Loyola Maryount (4-8).
The Hurricanes opened the match by taking all three doubles matches behind the 52nd-ranked duo of sophomore Josh Cohen and sophomore Eric Hecthman at No. 1, junior Tim Krebs and freshman Vivek Subramanian at No. 2 and senior Luis Manrique and freshman Ryan Waits at No. 3.
UM continued to roll in singles play, winning all but one match in straight sets .Cohen – ranked 87th nationally in singles – downed LMU’s Wojnarowicz, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot while 64th-ranked Krebs handled Nicolas Terrien, 6-2, 6-4 on court No. 2.
At the No. 3 position, Hechtman defeated Beau Berglund, 6-0, 6-3 and Hurricane junior John Hoyes downed Linas Cicenas, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.
Manriuqe would win a match tie-break to overtake LMU’s Matt Phillips, 6-2, 3-6, (11-9) and Waits upended Michael Chan, 6-3, 6-3 on the No 6 court.
The Hurricanes will host Wisconsin in their final non-conference match Wednesday, March 23 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center at 6 p.m
