Bounds and Dreyer Head to NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – University of Miami divers Heather Bounds and Jenna Dreyer will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for the 2005 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships that will be held in Purdue’s BoilermakerAquaticCenter March 17th through the 19th. This is the first NCAA Championship for both divers.

Bounds and Dreyer earned two of the 11 bids that we distributed last Sunday at the NCAA Zone B Diving Meet and are among 29 ACC swimmers and divers representing nine league schools that will participate in the NCAA Championship meet.
Dreyer, a freshman from Port Elizabeth, South Africa was the third overall qualifier after winning the one-meter diving competition with a score of 603.65 and placing second on the three-meter board with a score of 539.30. Bounds, a sophomore from Austin, Tex., finished second on the 10-meter platform with a score of 429.35.
Dreyer will be the Hurricanes’ lone participant on the one-meter spring board competition Thursday. Bounds will join Dreyer on the three-meter springboard and the 10-meter platform that will take place Friday and Saturday, respectively.
