10th ranked Hurricanes Host No. 9 North Carolina Wednesday

CORAL GABLES, <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Fla. – The 10th ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team returns to action Wednesday night with a pivotal ACC match against ninth ranked North Carolina at 6:00 p.m. in the NeilSchiffTennisCenter.

The Hurricanes (10-2 overall, 2-0 ACC) hope to extend their 21 match unbeaten streak at home that dates back to last season, when they finished the season 14-0. UM opened up “March Madness”–their eight-match, month-long homestand–with three straight victories over BostonCollege, No. 33 Florida State and BostonUniversity.
Look at the Tar Heels…
Ninth ranked North Carolina heads into Coral Gables fresh off a close 4-3 win over No. 42 Florida International Monday night. The Tar Heels (12-4 overall, 1-0 ACC) moved up to ninth ahead of the Hurricanes in the March 15 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. The Hurricanes, who will meet UNC for the first time as conference opponents, lead the all-time series 10-1.
The Tar Heels have an impressive 7-0 win over fourth ranked Kentucky in their resume and boast a roster with three ranked singles players and two ranked doubles teams. UNC is led by 20th ranked Kendall Cline, who owns a 26-5 overall record, No. 32 Aniela Mojzis and No. 88 Jenna Long. Cline pairs up with Mojzis to form North Carolina’s 11th ranked doubles team. Long and teammate Sarah Andusen are ranked 26th in doubles.
