Dreyer Places Second at NCAA Zone B Diving Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Miami freshman diver Jenna Dreyer qualified for the NCAA Championships when she placed second on the three-meter board with a score of 539.30 Friday evening at the GeorgiaTechAquaticCenter.

Dreyer came in second behind South Carolina’s Lauren King who tallied a score of 546.10 for the title.

 

Sophomore Heather Bounds also qualified for the NCAA Championships with a ninth place finish on the three-meter with a score of 468.35.

 

On the men’s side, both sophomore Derek Starks and senior Miguel Velazquez qualified for the NCAA Championships on the one-meter board.  Starks finished in sixth place with the score of 656.50 while Velazquez came in eighth with a score of 634.00.

 

The NCAA Zone Diving Championship meet qualifies 13 men and 11 women for the NCAA Championships. The diving meet will continue on Saturday with the women’s one-meter and men’s three meter springboard competitions.
