Where were you born?
North Miami Beach, Florida
Do you have any nicknames?
Lil’cane, Lil’one and Widget
When/Why did you start playing tennis?
I started playing when I was five. My mom and dad had me and my brother on the court when we were in strollers. I picked it up from there and developed a talent.
If you could have any job, anywhere, what would it be?
I would really love to work for a sports team, college or professional, as an orthopedic doctor. Even working here at UM under Dr. Uribe would be a pleasure.
Name anyone, living or dead, you’d like to meet:
I would like to meet Will Smith, 50 Cent and Xzibit so he can “Pimp My Ride”
The best tennis player in the world is…?
Val Banada, my brother (who plays on the NC State men’s tennis squad)
What do you like to do with your free time?
In my free time I like to hangout with Miss (Megan) Bradley, go home to my family and have nice dinners, listen to music and take care of my car.
Why did you choose the University of Miami?
How could you want to be anywhere else? The sun, the beaches, the nightlife, the weather and my friends and family are close by.
What was your first impression of Miami?
Well, I was born here so I’ve loved being here all my life.
Talk about your favorite professor or class at Miami?
Professor Bateman, Environmental Science, he was really funny during lectures. He taught class well and he was really easy to talk to.

What CD is in your player in CD player?
In my pioneer head-unit, I play an 84 track mp3 CD with all hip-hop and R&B.
Are you a good cook? What is your favorite food?
Yes, when Megan (Bradley) cooks tacos. I am limited to awesome breakfasts and anything that boils or is microwavable. My favorite food is that famous “4590” breakfast.
Who is your favorite athlete?
My favorite athletes, those who I admire, are those who are conscious of every aspect of their athletic career; those who dedicate their lives to their sport, for example Olympians.
What is your best sports memory?
My best sports memory was in Regionals while in the Sweet 16 against the No. 1 team Florida. It was down to my match and I had only started the third set, when the team score was 3-3. I won the match and made the whole team nervous but we made it to Nationals.
What are your goals for this season both individually and as a team?
Individually, I want to be as healthy as possible so I can compete at 100%. As a team, I would like us to grow as a unit, perform at our best and make it to Nationals again.
What do you love about being a Hurricane?
I like that we have a smaller school where interaction with professors and peers is inevitable. I love my team and athletics in general; it’s my home away from home.
