UM Still on Top After Two Rounds at the Papa John's Collegiate

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team stayed atop the overall leader board after round two at the Papa John’s Collegiate at Don Shula’s Golf Resort Monday with a team score of 595 (+19) led by sophomore Josie Shinn’s second-round score of 73 (+1).
Shinn headed into today’s round tied for second place after shooting a first-round score of 73 (+1) Sunday and followed up in Monday’s second round to fire 73 (+1) once more.
After two rounds, she is still tied for second place with a two-day score of 146 (+2) and sits just one stroke behind Mississippi’s State’s Beth Irwin, who leads with a two-round score of 145 (+1).
Irwin shot the lowest round of the day with a 70 (+1) which included an eagle on hole three, a 169-yard par three.
Among those in a three-way tie for second-place with Shinn include UM freshman Hagen Weintraub, who finished the day with a 76 (+4) after firing a first-round score of 70 (+1) Sunday.
Overall, the Hurricanes hold a seven-stroke lead over second place Virginia, who sits at 602 (+26) followed by UNC-Wilmington who sits at third with a two-day total of 603 (+27).
The third and final round of competition at the Papa John’s Collegiate will conclude Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
