Hurricanes Welcome Cross-Town Rival Florida International

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The 10th ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team welcomes cross-town rival (63) Florida International Friday, February 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes (3-2) return to the courts after defeating Florida Atlantic, 7-0, Tuesday evening.

The Golden Panthers (2-1) moved up to No. 63 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings after shutting out both No. 61 Auburn and Central Florida, 7-0, last week.

FIU is led by sophomore Paula Zabala who was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Player of the Week after finishing last week with a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles.

The Hurricanes are 15-1 all-time against the Golden Panthers, which includes a 7-0 victory in their only meeting in 2004. Both teams met during the fall season at the UM Fall Classic.

Admission to Sunday’s match as well as all home matches is free to both students and the general public.
