Hurricanes Face Florida Atlantic and Tampa Saturday

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The University of Miami swimming and diving squad will travel across county lines to Boca Raton, Fla. where they will face in-state rivals Florida Atlantic and the University of Tampa in a double-dual meet Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the FAU Pool.
The meet marks the second meeting between UM and FAU. Both schools squared-off November 5th in Coral Gables with the Hurricanes taking a 164-136 victory over the Owls. Miami won 11 of the meet’s 16 events, including the 400-yard freestyle relay and both diving events. Senior Manon van Rooijen swept the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50-yard freestyle (24.70), the 100-yard freestyle (52.33) and anchoring the first place 400-yard freestyle relay. Fellow senior Katalin Ferenzci also took home first in all the backstroke events, winning the 100-yard backstroke (58.16), less than a second off her school record time, and the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:04.88.
The Hurricanes return to the pool after a sweep over Florida International, New Orleans and Florida A&M in a quad meet at FIU’s Bay Vista Aquatic Center Saturday, January 22nd.
