Barrett Named ACC Track and Field Performer of the Week

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami senior Kim Barrett (Miami Gulliver Prep) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week.

Barrett won both the shot put and weight throw to lead Miami to a victory over 14 schools including fifth-ranked Texas at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Track and Field Meet in Houston, Texas.

Barrett recorded set school-records in both events. She posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the weight throw with a toss of 20.77 meters (68-01.75) shattering the old UM record by nearly 12 feet. Her school-record throw of 16.52 meters (54-02.50) in the shot put is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Both marks rank No. 1 in the ACC this season.
