Hurricanes Travel Cross-town to Face FIU

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami swimming and diving squad will travel cross-town to face Florida International Saturday, January 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at FIU’s Bay Vista Aquatic Center.
The meet marks the second meeting between the schools this season. The Hurricanes (3-5, 0-3 ACC) defeated their cross-town rivals, 97-80, in their season opener. Freshman distance freestyle swimmer Lauren Shue made her Miami debut by winning the 1000 and the 500-yard freestyle events. The meet also saw a freshman sweep in the 200-yard freestyle event with Taylor McFarlane, Capria DeVenuto, and Casey Heffernan coming in 1-2-3 in the event.
Both teams participated in Miami’s first annual Matt Gribble Invitational with the Hurricanes coming in 4th in the eight-team competition. The Golden Panthers nabbed eighth place after taking part in the morning session.
