Men's Cross Country Concludes Competition at the 2004 ACC Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Miami men’s cross country team finished with a total of 313 points to finish 11th overall Saturday at the 2004 ACC Men’s Cross Country Championships in College Park, Md.
Led by junior Alex Brutvan, whose 49th-place time of 26:36.0 paced all UM runners, eight members of the Hurricane cross country team competed Saturday, combining for an average time of 27:37.44 in the 8K course.
Sophomore Tom Berry was UM’s next highest finisher, placing 55th overall with a time of 26:42.8. Sophomores Jon Schelner and Zach Castiglione placed 74th and 77th, respectively while junior James Mullaly crossed in at 79th followed by teammate, senior Billy Bludgus at 80th.
The Hurricanes’ freshman pair of Joey Harper and Richard Bernard rounded out the field, placing 83rd and 84th, respectively.
NC State edged out Florida State, who scored 48 points, by one point to claim their fourth-straight Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Championship, scoring 47 points in the ACC’s closest finish in conference history.
