Bradley and Banada Advance to Wilson/ITA South Regional Semi-Finals

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team No. 28 ranked doubles duo of Megan Bradley and Audrey Banada advanced to the semi-finals of the Wilson/ITA South Regional Championships Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of Alabama. Bradley advanced to the quarter-finals in singles play.

The Bradley/Banada tandem defeated FSU’s doubles team of Roxanne Clarke and Lindsay Deason 8-3, to reach the semi-finals. They will play FIU’s Egle Pertrauskalte and Jovanivk Sunday for a chance to play in the finals.

Bradley defeated FIU’s Egle Pertrauskalte 6-2, 6-0 in the morning’s Round of 16. She will play Florida’s Alex Liles in the quarter-finals Sunday morning for a shot at the semi-finals.

Junior Melissa Applebaum (121) got a first round bye in the consolation “A” draw before overtaking Georgia Tech’s Kacie Anson, 6-2, 6-1 to reach the quarter finals. She will face MSU’s Tarryn Rudman on Sunday.

Freshmen Caren Seenauth was defeated by Auburn’s Nancy Peaden 1-6, 6-3 (10-8) in the first round of the consolation “A” draw.

The doubles duo of Applebaum and Emily Mowery were downed by Florida’s Lolita Frangulyan and Whitney Benik 8-0 in the round of 16.

Wilson/ITA South Regional Championships action will resume Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m.
