Cohen Moves into Quarterfinals of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Region Championship

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sophomore Josh Cohen advanced to the quarterfinals of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Region Championship with a pair of straight-set wins in the round of 32 and 16 Saturday afternoon at the Memphis Racquet Club in Memphis, Tenn.

Cohen, ranked 76th in the nation in singles and playing as the No. 9 seed in the tournament, opened the day with a win over LSU’s Jason Hazley, 7-5, 6-2 in the round of 32 before going on to upend Luigi D’Agord of Alabama, 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 16.

Cohen will return Sunday for a quarterfinal match-up with fourth-seeded Janne Holmia of Florida at 9:30 a.m.

In doubles action, Cohen and teammate, junior Eric Hechtman fell to Mark Growcott and Ken Skupski of LSU, 8-2 in the round of 16 after knocking off Haris Huremovic and Olivier Nussbaum of Southeast Louisiana, 9-7 in the second round.
