Hurricanes Host UM Fall Classic
Oct. 13, 2004
Coral Gables, Fla. –
The University of Miami women’s tennis team will continue fall play when they host Vanderbilt, Florida, FIU and FAU in the UM Fall Classic Friday, Oct.15 through Sunday Oct. 17 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The tournament will be in a hidden dual format where no team score is allotted and wins only count for individual records. Each day will begin with dual matches at 9:00 am and singles to follow. Singles will resume at 1:00 pm.
On Friday the Hurricanes will face Vanderbilt in doubles action before taking on FAU at 1:00 pm. Saturday UM players will face Florida/FAU in doubles and play singles against Vanderbilt at 1:00 pm. The Hurricanes will conclude the tournament with doubles and singles against FIU.
“It’s important that the players play a lot of matches,” said head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews. “That is what the fall is all about, to improve their game.”
“Vanderbilt is a good team to come in because we can get a good idea of where we stand,” she further commented. “They went to the Final Four last season and their number one player is ranked in the top 10 in the country. Our match against them will help gauge where we are.”
