Hurricanes Finish Second at Pre-ACC Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior Alex Brutvan finished with a fourth-place time of 26:33.16 in the men’s 8k to lead the University of Miami men’s cross country team to a second-place finish at the 2004 Pre-ACC Invitational held Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park, Md.

Brutvan, who has been UM’s top finisher in nine consecutive meets dating back to last season, was one of three Hurricanes to finish in the top 10 individually, with teammates Tom Berry and Zach Castiglione finishing seventh and eighth with times of 26:45.70 and 26:46.05 respectively.

As a team, Miami finished with a combined time of 2:16:09.79 to place second behind Maryland, who finished with a combined time of 2:12:10.69.

The Hurricanes return to action October 9, traveling to Orlando, Fla. for the Disney Invitational.
