Hurricanes Back at Practice

Hurricanes Back at Practice

Sept. 6, 2004

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The fifth-ranked Miami football team resumed preparations for sixth-ranked Florida State Monday afternoon with a two-hour practice in full pads at the Greentree Practice Facility.

The Hurricanes had not practiced since Thursday morning due to Hurricane Frances.

“It was good to get back on the field,” Miami head coach Larry Coker said. “We were away for a few days because of the hurricane. It was really important for us to get back out there. We worked in the weight room and ran yesterday (Sunday), but weren’t able to get out on the field.”

With the Florida State game just four days away, Miami had to shake off the rust and get back to work.

“I just encouraged the team to take advantage of every opportunity,” Coker said. “We were scheduled to play tonight, and there’s no game tonight, obviously. But that gives us a few more opportunities to get ourselves ready. I told them, `No regrets — lets do everything we can to be the best we can.'”

The Hurricanes will return to the practice field on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. workout. All Hurricanes practices are closed to the public for the remainder of the year.
