Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The University of Miami announced today a broadcast agreement with Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) to air tape delay football games as well as live broadcasts of women’s basketball and baseball.
In making the announcement, UM Athletic Director Paul Dee said, “We are very pleased that Hurricane athletic events will be broadcast on CSS. Our affiliation with CSS will allow our fans throughout the Southeast to follow the University of Miami. We are pleased to be associating with an organization that has a proven track record in broadcasting collegiate events and are excited that CSS will be showcasing our football, women’s basketball and baseball programs.”
CSS, which is available to more than four million cable subscribers across eleven states, will show tape delay broadcasts of every UM football game on Wednesdays at noon EST and 7pm EST. Additionally, 10 baseball and two women’s basketball games will be broadcast live. Coach’s shows covering football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball will also be seen on the network. CSS will also air the 2005 football Spring Game.
“We are thrilled to be affiliated with one of the top athletic programs in collegiate sports today,” said Mark Fuhrman, General Manager of CSS. “Our coverage of the Hurricanes not only expands our presence in the state of Florida, something we have been working on for years, but it also increases our coverage of the Atlantic Coast Conference.”
A partnership between Comcast Corporation and Charter Communications, CSS will be available to Comcast Cable customers in areas where Comcast has completed a system upgrade in South Florida beginning September 7, bringing the network’s total subscriber number to 4.5 million households. The upgrade is scheduled for completion by year’s end.
