UM's Williams Helps Team USA To World Leading Time

Former University of Miami All-American Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.) ran the third leg of the USA 4×100-meter relay that posted the fastest time in the world this season at the pre-Olympic “Team Challenge” with France and Germany in Munich, Germany.
Williams along with Angela Williams, Marion Jones and Latasha Colander executed perfect handoffs in winning with a world-leading time of 41.67 seconds.
Williams, a nine-time All-American and the 2004 NCAA National Champion at 100-meters, qualified for the United States Olympic team with a third-place finish in the 100-meters at the USA Olympic Trials earlier this summer in Sacramento, Calif.
The Olympic Games opening ceremonies will take place this Friday, August 13 in Athens, Greece. The track and field competition begins August 20 and runs through August 29.
