Darden, Greggs Medal At NACAC Championships

SHERBROOKE, Quebec, Canada – University of Miami junior Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) won the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles and junior Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) ran the second leg of the gold medal 4×400-meter relay to lead the United States at the 2004 NACAC-TELUS Track and Field Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
The NACAC Track and Field Championships consisted of athletes ages 20-23 from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Darden, who had not competed in the 400-meter hurdles prior to this season, finished in a time of 57.02 seconds marking the second fastest time of the season for the five-time All-American.
Earlier this season she reached the semifinals of the 400-hurdles at the United States Track and Field Olympic Trials, and captured BIG EAST Championships in the indoor 60-meter hurdles and outdoor 400-meter hurdles. She went on to earn All-America honors in both the 400-meter hurdles and 4×100-meter relay.
Greggs, a five-time All-American, qualified for the NACAC Championships by advancing to the semifinals of the 400-meters at this summer’s US Olympic Trials. Earlier this season she won the BIG EAST Indoor 400-meter title and earned All-America honors in the 4×400-meter relay.
Last season Greggs was selected for the 4×400-meter relay pool that represented the United States at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
