Miller Begins US Open Play This Thursday

South Hadley, Mass. (hurricanesports.com) – Miami junior Tina Miller (Miami Archbishop Curly Notre Dame) will begin play at the US Women’s Open at 2:16 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 at Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.
She will be paired with Seon Hwa Lee of Korea and LiYing Ye of China for the first two rounds. The course will play at 6,473 yards and is a par 71.
Miller, who is one of 15 amateurs in the field 156, recorded a 36-hole score of 148 75-73) at the sectional qualifying tournament at Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield, Mich. to qualify for the US Women’s Open which runs through July 4.
She was the low amateur at the Sectional and is the second Hurricane in the last four seasons to qualify for the US Women’s Open joining Dominique Gagnon in 2001.
Miller was the Hurricanes top finisher in six tournaments this season and posted a team-best 75.7 stroke average. She recorded two tournament victories this past season and registered six other top ten finishes.
Former Hurricane Kim Augusta also qualified for this year’s US Women’s Open posting a two-round total of 147 (74-73) at the sectional in West Bloomfield. Augusta is scheduled to tee-off at 9:12 a.m. on Thursday.
The first two rounds, July 1-2, will be carried live from 2-6 p.m. on ESPN. The final two rounds, July 3-4, will air on NBC from 3-6 p.m.
