Hurricanes Fall to UCLA, 4-3 at NCAA Quarterfinals

ATHENS, Ga. – The 23rd-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team fell to ninth-seeded UCLA, 4-3 Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2004 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships in Athens, Ga.

The Hurricanes took an early lead against the Bruins, capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.

Trailing 1-0 heading into singles play, UCLA responded to win at No. 1, 2, 4 and 6 singles to down the Hurricanes, 4-3.

Miami concludes the 2004 season with an overall record of 20-4, posting their first 20-plus win season since 1999.
