Hurricanes Take On Florida Atlantic at Mark Light Field Wednesday Night

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The fourth-ranked Miami Hurricanes continue their 22-game home stand with Florida Atlantic on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Field.

Miami then welcomes Ball State to Coral Gables for a three-game series on Thursday, May 20, through Saturday, May 22. All three games are set for a 7 p.m. first pitch.

The Hurricanes are 37-11 on the season and 11-4 on their 22-game homestand. Florida Atlantic is 38-14 overall and 17-10 in Atlantic Sun play. Ball State is 26-23 with a game at Wright State tonight.

Freshman right-hander Mike Crotta 5-3, 4.98 ERA) will get the start against the Hurricanes for FAU. Miami will counter RHP Dan Touchet (4-1, 4.35 ERA), who is making his first start since April 9 at Florida State.

Miami owns a 37-7 lead in the all-time series, including a 1-0 win in the 2003 Coral Gables Regional. J.D. Cockroft threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout.

UM will send Cockroft to the mound on Thursday to open the Ball State series. Cockroft is 6-4 7on the year with a 3.05 ERA. Cesar Carrillo will put his perfect record on the line Friday at 7 p.m. he is 8-0 with a 2.63 ERA. Brandon Camardese (5-2, 3.71 ERA) will start the series finale on Saturday.

Ball State is expected to start LHP Mike Johnston (3-6, 3.91 ERA) on Thursday opposite Cockroft. Joe Ness, a right-handed, will go to the hill on Friday with a 6-3 record and a 4.18 ERA. The Cardinals should start RHP Andrew Anderson (5-3, 4.91 ERA) on Sunday.
