Women's Track Remains No. 7 In Trackwire Rankings

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s track and field team remained at No. 7 in the Trackwire 25 rankings released on Tuesday.
Junior Lauryn Williams (Rochester, Pa.) has led the Hurricanes this season running the fastest times in the world in both 100-meters (11.01) and 200-meters (22.46) at the Gatorade Classic on April 10.
Miami has several student-athletes ranked among the nation’s elite in their respective events including freshman phenom Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) who ranks second in the nation in the triple jump (13.43 meters/44-00.75) and fourth in the nation in long jump (6.35 meters/20-10.00).
The Hurricanes have a total of five long jumpers and four triple jumpers who have already qualified for NCAA Regional competition. Joining Charles in the long jump are freshman Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) who ranks 14th in the nation (6.17 meters/20-03.00), junior Chinela Davis (Haverstraw, N.Y.) who ranks 17th in the nation (6.13 meters/20-01.50), freshman Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.) who is 24th in the nation (6.07 meters/19-11.00) and junior Amber Williams (Succasunna, N.J.) who is 58th in the nation (5.93 meters/19-05.50).
In the triple jump, senior Kitoya Carter (Miami Northwestern), the defending East Regional Champion, ranks sixth in the nation with a jump of 13.28 meters (43-07.00), while Faluade ranks 16th (12.91 meters/42-04.25) and Seward ranks 39th (12.44 meters/40-09.75).
Sophomore Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) ranks 10th in the 400-meter hurdles (57.97) and 37th in the 100-meter hurdles (13.77), and is a member of the Hurricanes’ fourth ranked 4×100-meter relay.
UM has three runners ranked among the top 400-meter runners in the nation including sophomore Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) who is 13th (53.15), freshman Ginou Etienne (Miami Central) who is 29th (53.97) and junior Wiande Moore (Spring, Texas) who ranks 30th (53.97). The trio joins Carter on the Hurricanes’ eighth ranked 4×400-meter relay.
Other UM regional qualifiers include sophomore India Ransom (Largo, Md.) in the 100-meters (11.64), Amber Williams in the 100-meter hurdles (13.80), and senior Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) in the shot put (15.04 meters/49-04.25).
