Landy Ninth In Decathlon At Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami senior Russell Landy (Miami Killian) recorded 3,216 points and is in ninth-place after the first of competition in the decathlon at the Hurricane Invitational at Cob Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla.
Landy recorded a time of 11.17 seconds in the 100-meters, a time of 53.56 seconds in the 400-meters, a leap of 1.71 meters (5-07.25) in the high jump, a mark of 6.23 meters (20-05.25) in the long jump and a toss of 11.01 meters (36-01.50) in the shot put.
Nate Schmidt (North Dakota State) leads the decathlon with a first day total of 4,019 points. North Dakota State’s Andrew Aakre is second with 3,916 points.
The final five events of the decathlon will begin Friday at 10 a.m.
